I think the answer to the "routable" question is that OSM needs to get routing functionality onto its home page ASAP – it’s hurting perception of the project if this feature isn’t easily accessible.
To have a good routing engine you need lots of dev time. I haven’t tried cloudmades offering, but the 3rd party ones I’ve tried though nice are very rough around the edges.
The routing is great, but claiming that an average speed of 45mph right through central london is a bit of a joke, especially since the speed limit is 30mph 99% of the way along the route it picked.
@Matt … so you went in and fixed the speed limits then right?
